Casa Grande police: Male suspect shot; no officers injured

Casa Grande police say a male suspect was shot in an encounter with police in which no officers were injured.

Officials say shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to a 911 regarding a domestic disturbance near McCartney and Pearl Roads, not far from Interstate 10.

When an officer arrived at the scene, he was confronted by a man at the home and a physical altercation ensued. The officer attempted to defend himself and included the use of a Taser.

"The Taser was ineffective and the male subject continued striking the officer repeatedly. The officer, unable to defend himself any longer, fired his service weapon, striking the male subject," stated CGPD's Thomas Anderson.

Other responding officers provided aid until fire department personnel arrived.

The male subject was later identified as 27-year-old Cameron Hall. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

"Per CGPD policy, the officer, a 10 year veteran of the department, has been placed on administrative duty at this time," added Anderson.
