Families of 5 killed in the west valley seek justice

Diego Verdugo-Sanchez Jr was born June 13, a few days ago. But he never got to see his father, 21-year-old Diego Verdugo Sanchez. His father was killed on April 1 by an unknown shooter.

"We were supposed to get married on October 1, our anniversary. We were together for 5 years," said Sanchez's fiancee.

At Diego's home, everyone is asking how could anyone do this terrible thing?

"I think we need to pray for them; they are evil, wicked. Something in their life makes them think life means nothing," said Holly Garcia.

A few miles away is a memorial to 31-year-old Angela Linner and 12-year-old Maleah Ellis. Both were killed on June 12. Meleah's grandfather is both grieving, and angry.

"It is a shame they can find Bin Laden, but cannot find these guys that walked up in my yard and murdered my grandbaby and put my daughter in critical condition. I don't know if she is going to live or die," said Maleah's grandfather.

Phoenix Police say they are sending additional officers to the area but hope the public has tips that can lead them to an arrest. There is a $11,000 reward for tips if you have information call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
