Girl Scout cookie season starts today!

GLENDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - "Hi, my name is Nicole. Would you like to buy some Girl Scout cookies?" Nicole Erickson asked.

It's that time of the year again -- Girl Scout cookie season.

"Who doesn't love Girl Scout cookies?"

More than 11,000 Girl Scouts in our state will begin selling their cookies today.

"Selling people cookies... .because you get to sell people cookies and they really like it," Eleanor Day said.

The all-girl led business plans to sell three million boxes of cookies this year, compared to the 2.9 million packages sold last year.

With 100 percent of the proceeds staying local, selling a lot of cookies teaches these girls much more than a tasty sales pitch, but gaining experiences a textbook cannot teach.

"Seeing how much they've learned about counting money and making change and talking to people and explaining their goals is really exciting," Dawna Erickson said. "It's business-building skills and they're learning from a young age to be successful women when they're older."
