Homeland Security agents involved in Phoenix shooting

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Phoenix Police say two people have been transported, after a shooting involving special agents with the Department of Homeland Security Tuesday afternoon.

According to a brief statement, the incident happened on 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road. Officers responded to the area at around 3:00 p.m. for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they were informed that by Homeland Security investigator of what happened.

According to a statement released Tuesday night by ICE, their Homeland Security Investigations special agents discharged their firearms during a narcotics investigation, after a suspect tried to ram them with his car.

ICE's Office of Professional Responsibility, according to ICE officials, will review the incident, in accordance to agency protocol. Phoenix Police, meanwhile, is the lead investigative agency for the incident.
