Missing man believed to be killed; suspect arrested

Phoenix Police officials announced Thursday the arrest of a man, in connection with the presumed death of a missing man.

In a statement released by Sgt. Mercedes Fortune, 23-year-old Oliver Laris was originally arrested for trafficking stolen property and theft of means of transportation, but they have since arrested Laris for the murder of 52-year-old Gustavo Martinez Gonzales. Gonzales was reported missing on June 10, when it was reported that he had driven away from home, in an attempt to sell his truck. Gonzales never came home.

Officials said Laris was arrested for Gonzales' presumed death, due to evidence that indicated that Laris had contact with Gonzalez, in addition to digital, forensic and physical evidence. The search for Gonzales' body remains underway.
