PD: Obamacare argument leads to domestic violence

The battle over politics has sunk to a new low. A valley woman claims ObamaCare made her plow into her husband in her SUV.

Police say politics are to blame for a heated argument between a valley couple. This rampage apparently took place because the victim's wife was upset over her husband's lack of voter participation in the election.

Gilbert police tell us when 28-year-old Holly Solomon found out her husband didn't vote last Tuesday, she became outraged.

It turns out Solomon believed her family was going to face hardship as a result of President Obama's re-election and her husband was in trouble for not voting.

Matt Reidhead describes the Mesa neighborhood he lives in as quiet -- except during election time.

"It's a very political neighborhood, the neighbor across the street is Russell Pearce," says Reidhead.

Party affiliation aside, neighbors here were surprised to learn just how passionate the woman next door is about her political beliefs.

"To get heated, yeah I wouldn't expect something as drastic as that, that's surprising and unfortunate."

28-year-old Holly Solomon has been arrested for domestic violence and aggravated assault stemming from an incident over the weekend.

Just before 10 a.m. Saturday, Solomon and her husband got into an argument because he didn't vote, according to police.

They were driving in the area of North Gilbert Road and Vaughn Avenue. The screaming match escalated, and 36-year-old Daniel Solomon was eventually pinned beneath the couple's SUV and the curb.

Operator: "911 what's your emergency?

Caller: "This woman just ran down her husband or boyfriend or husband in the parking lot! She got out of the car and she was screaming at him, started driving circles around him and finally he started trying to get away and she ran into him."

Operator: "911 where is your emergency?"

Caller: "Yeah somebody just got rammed over here. The guy is on the ground right now and I can see the wife or girlfriend is on the phone right now."

Witnesses told police the husband was hiding behind a light pole, when he finally stepped out from behind it, he was hit.

Solomon told police she only meant to scare her husband and that she tried to hit the brakes not the gas.

Police tell us there was no indication Holly Solomon was impaired by drugs or alcohol. She is apparently 6 months pregnant.

Daniel Solomon remains in the hospital in critical condition.
