Special donation by Diamondbacks help make therapy room transformation possible

A special donation has made a room transformation possible at Hacienda Healthcare in Phoenix.

The therapy room, once looking typical, has been redesigned with an Arizona Diamondbacks flair, filled with color, hi-tech equipments and all things Diamondbacks.

"A lot more brighter, a lot more continuity here," said parent Karina Cesena. "There's a lot more fun as opposed to coming down and you feel like you're coming into a dungeon. So thank you Diamondbacks! Thank you so much for your donation, your gift."

Parents like Cesena are very thankful for this gift. The new therapy room will help patients like Cesena's daughter, Jazzmyne Morris.

The organization provides specialized services for medically fragile and chronically ill infants, children, teens and young adults.

"An absolute great future, not just for us but for the clients, parents, all of the other ones that come in and can help understand that they're really trying to do better things, good things for them," said Cesena.

Officials with Hacienda Healthcare asked for a specific amount of money to turn the room into what it is today, and the Diamondbacks were so touched by their story, they increased that amount.

"This organization originally asked for $38,000, which isn't a ton of money, and we were so impressed with their presentation that we actually increased the funding to $50,000," said Debbie Castaldo, Vice President of Corporate and Community Impact with the Diamondbacks.

The funding for this project came from the Ken Kendrick Grand Slam Award, and Hacienda Healthcare beat out 225 other applicants te receive the funding.
