Survey: Parents buying cell phones for kids as young as 6-years-old

The survey from voucher-cloud sampled nearly 3,000 American parents with at least one child under the age of 18.

They asked them which electronic devices they had purchased for their children.

31 percent of parents said they purchased their kids a cell phone for security reasons.

The parents in the survey -estimate they spent nearly $500 per child to equip them with the gadgets.
