Toddler nearly drowns in Gilbert community pool

A 19-month-old girl was pulled from a community pool after nearly drowning on Thursday.

According to Gilbert firefighters, the girl was swimming in the pool with her mom and several others near Higley and Ray.

The toddler was wearing a floatation device, but somehow ended up face down in the water.

Another parent at the pool noticed the girl and immediately pulled her out.

The girl was given CPR at the scene and began breathing on her own.

She was taken to Cardon Children's Hospital for evaluation.
