Weapons stolen from cars at Phoenix police stations

Phoenix Police officials say weapons have been taken from a number of marked, unmarked, and personal vehicles at a precinct building and a substation.

According to police, the incidents happened at the South Mountain Precinct substation on 2400 E. Broadway Road, and at the Central City Precinct on 1600 E. Buckeye Road. Incidents at the South Mountain Precinct substation happened between 4:00 p.m. on January 18 to 5:00 a.m. on January 19, and from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on January 25.

The incident at the Central City Precinct, according to police, happened between 2:00 p.m. on February 2, and 11:00 a.m. on February 4. The following weapons were taken during the incidents:

Police say there were no evidence of forced entry. Officials also say they are vulnerable to property crimes, and will actively seek solutions to correct protocol breaches. Police refused to discuss specific security measures.

In addition to a criminal investigation, police say an internal investigation is underway to reveal any possible policy violations. Those responsible may face disciplinary actions.
