The funeral for 10-year-old Rebekah Baptiste is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 18, with a public rosary and funeral Mass at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Parish in Surprise, followed by a graveside service in Avondale.

July 15 is election day in Arizona's 7th Congressional District. A special primary is taking place for candidates running to replace Raul Grijalva, who passed away in March. Grijalva's daughter, Adelita, is running in the Democratic primary. She's competing against Daniel Hernandez and Deja Foxx. The Republican candidates are Daniel Butierez, Jorge Rivas and Jimmy Rodriguez. The district includes parts of Tolleson and Avondale, and stretches to the Tucson area.

Fire crews in the West Valley battled a pair of brush fires late Sunday night.

2 separate brush fires are burning about 10 acres near homes at 127th Avenue & Van Buren Street. A resident reported frequent fires in the area, suspecting human causes & noting fireworks activity. Officials haven't released a cause for these fires.

Police say a juvenile was hurt in a shooting on June 19 at Festival Fields Park near Lower Buckeye Road and Central Avenue. The victim was reportedly shot by another juvenile, who fled the park before police arrived.

There is a crackdown on crime along the Agua Fria River bottom in the West Valley, and officials with the Avondale Police Department say the measures are working. FOX 10's Nicole Krasean reports.

Firefighters were at the scene of a fire that seriously damaged a home near 107th Avenue and Buckeye Road, in Avondale. The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
