Man shot, killed his stepfather in Phoenix: PD

Brandon Alvarez, 31, allegedly shot and killed his 57-year-old stepfather during an argument at a home on Oct. 12 near 39th and Maryland Avenues. Alvarez is accused of second-degree murder.

Medical helicopter makes 'precautionary landing' at park

A medical helicopter en route to a hospital made a "precautionary landing" on Oct. 14 at the Paradise Valley Park, located near 40th Street and Bell Road. Three crew members and a patient who were on board were not hurt. The aircraft sustained no damage.

Morning Weather Forecast - 10/14/25

After a long stretch of rain, conditions will begin drying out today in the Valley. We'll see mostly sunny skies with a high in the 80s.

Storm damages Phoenix Zoo, knocking trees and displays down

The Phoenix Zoo is closing for a few days to clean up from Monday's storm damage. A giant Christmas tree used for zoo lights was knocked into the water, and more than a dozen trees went down. Workers were able to bring the animals to their night enclosures.

Couple ties the knot in heavy Arizona downpour

Benjamin and Brooklinn got married on Saturday in Oro Valley, in the midst of Arizona's heavy downpours over the weekend. Photographer Eric Brooks says it was funny, because Brooklinn is a meteorologist in Kansas City, even running weather models for her big day.
