Are you ready for Oktoberfest?

Strap on your lederhosen and tighten up your dirndl! Oktoberfest is back! The original and largest beer festival and funfair in the world starts September 17 in Munich, Germany. Revelers enjoy sausages, giant soft pretzels, and of course, barrels of beer- all best enjoyed after hitting the carnival rides, of course.

Oktoberfest began as a Royal Wedding Feast in 1810, celebrating Crown Prince Ludwig's marriage. 206 years later, the annual 16 day festival is still going strong, with an estimated 6 million attendees every year. Hmm, suddenly our own wedding anniversaries pale in comparison.

If you don't think you'll make it to Bavaria this year, but still want your fill of cheese noodles, beer, and Oompah music, take heart that Oktoberfests now happen all over the world- and there's probably one happening this September or October near you.

The largest Oktoberfest in the U.S. takes place September 16-18 in Cincinnati, Ohio. But the tradition has taken root from San Francisco to Chicago and from Texas to Minnesota. Celebrate fall in your city with a steinful. Prost!
