Prop 104: Sales tax increase would fund transit improvements

The sales tax in Phoenix may be going up soon in order to provide expansions to the light rail and valley streets.

Voters can decide on the proposal to raise tax by .3 of a cent next month.

The additional revenue would fund several transportation projects.

Move Phoenix will add over 1,000 miles of bike lanes in the city, like the ones downtown on Grand Avenue.

The plan also calls for expanding light rail in south Phoenix, on the west side and across town from Paradise Valley mall to ASU West.

The proposal would also add bus services so they run every fifteen minutes, are faster and have extended hours.

Streets would be resurfaced and sidewalks would be added.

Some people think the plan is beneficial, but others say it's a waste of money.
