Valley man proposes to girlfriend at the 13th Floor Haunted House

The holidays are a popular time to propose, but what about Halloween? Popping the question can be pretty nerve-wracking, but one young man decided to get down on one knee in a pretty scary environment.

He proposed to his girlfriend Friday evening at the 13th Floor Haunted House and as you might have guessed, things didn't go as planned.

It's that time of year again -- hundreds of people making their way to haunted houses to be spooked by the goons and goblins.

For one couple, this spook will be one to remember.

Maurilio Barragan decided to propose to his girlfriend Bryanna Nye at the 13th Floor Haunted House near 28th Avenue and Bell Road where he used to work.

"She's into spooky stuff, not getting scared. I'm in to both," he said.

The stage was set in the graveyard where the proposal was supposed to happen, but plans changed after Bryanna became so afraid of the zombies that she ran and fell off the stage. None of us knew what was happening when the room became silent -- come to find out the proposal was going on as planned.

FOX 10's Danielle Miller caught up with the couple after they finished. The good news is Bryanna wasn't hurt and she said yes.

"Very surprised, especially since I fell off the stage. It was amazing. It was definitely unique too," she said.

"So you weren't expecting it? No ring shopping? Totally out of the blue?" asked Miller.

"Yeah," replied Bryanna.

Maurilio said, "I've had the rings for for four months now."
