Valley sisters prepare for prom with help from Cinderella Affair

CHANDLER, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Studies show on average families can spend $400 to $1,000 to send a student to prom. To help ease that financial burden, a non-profit here in the Valley has been working with thousands of teens to make sure they look beautiful on prom night without spending a penny.

In the fairytale, Cinderella had evil stepsisters, but today at the Cinderella Affair, two sisters, Lilly and Nadia, couldn't be more excited to pick out prom dresses together.

"Finding the dress was the first thing I wanted to do, so after looking through a couple of dresses I found this one and thought this one's the one," said Lilly Garchow, a high school junior.

For 17 years, the Cinderella Affair, a non-profit organization, has helped thousands of Valley girls get decked out for one of the biggest nights of their high school lives.

There are several rooms lined wall to wall with gowns of all shapes, sizes, and silhouettes.

Next is the shoe room for the perfect pair to match, and finally, the jewelry room where accessorizing is a way of life.

"It's kind of like a dream come true, I never expected myself to get so much done with me it makes me feel like a whole new person and it's a really nice feeling," said Nadia Garchow, a high school senior.

The glitz and glam are stunning, but nothing compares to the beauty of giving back, and that, after all, is what makes the Cinderella Affair possible each year.

"Being a part of this cause and even just being able to do this it really gives me an insight into wanting to help other people in the future with prom," said Nadia.

The Cinderella Affair only requires you to bring your valid student ID.
