Arizona tribe may ban violent offenders from community

For the first time in its history, the Gila River Indian Community is considering a proposal that would allow for the banishment and disenrollment of tribal members convicted of violent crimes. If adopted, the ordinance would be the first of its kind in Arizona.

Teen charged in connection with Gila River PD officer's death

A teenager was indicted in connection to a shooting at a party earlier this year where a Gila River Police Officer was killed. A grand jury charged 18-year-old Joseph Notah with "assault with a dangerous weapon" and "brandishing a firearm in an act of violence." Notah was not charged for Officer Joshua Briese's death.
